“I’ve been lucky enough to watch Third Place Books work its magic first-hand. Trust me: There’s nothing quite like the moment a child hugs a new book to her heart like the friend she didn’t know she needed. Every time it happens, it’s a little miracle.”

“Gifting books to children enhances their self-confidence, empathy and imagination. It is so joyful to see a child, their eyes bright, hugging a book, and realizing “This book is mine!” Third Place Books Literary Foundation, thank you for impacting lives, inspiring dreams, and supporting literacy within our community.”

“When I visited schools with Third Place Books, I saw first hand how much care and dedication they take to connect children with books and the people who make them. Third Place Books Literary Foundation doesn’t just put books into young readers’ hands—it helps them see themselves as readers, artists, and storytellers too.”

What we do

The Third Place Books Literary Foundation brings books and authors to the community. We have four main programs that support our core mission: cultivating lifelong readers throughout greater Seattle by ensuring access to books and meaningful experiences with the authors who write them.

Book Donations

Donating books to low income schools and organizations that are supporting literacy outcomes in our community.

Author Events

Free events held in our stores and at schools or community hubs that connect readers directly to authors.

Book Fairs

Providing fundraising opportunities for schools alongside a donation program that will allow all students to receive a book.

Building Community

Creating a third place out in the local community with pop-up book sales, community events and author presentations.
